Cold-Water Safety for Educators Online Course – begins Sept. 17

In collaboration with UAS SE Sitka campus, AMSEA will offer a fifteen-week online college course for teachers and other educators. ED 593 – Cold Water Safety for Educators – is designed to train school teachers and other youth educators to teach cold-water safety and outdoor survival skills to school age children. ED 593 may be taken from 9/17/18-12/23/18 or from 1/28/19-4/26/19.

The course is based on AMSEA’s four-volume, K-12 curriculum, Surviving Outdoor Adventures, and provides teachers with training in the following topics:

Cold-Water Safety & Survival
Outdoor Preparedness
7 Steps to Survival
Immersion Suits
Minimizing Flooding
Rescue Techniques
Mayday Calls
Emergency Signals
Risk Assessment & Management
