Saturday, November 21 at 2pm on Zoom, the Friends of SJ Museum will host “Share Your Culture/ Share Your Research Virtual Event.”

Robert Hoffmann (Tlingit) will use Bill Holm’s illustrated cross-section of carved formline in NW Coast Indian Art: An Analysis of Form and Steve Brown’s proposals about how formline has evolved over the centuries in Native Visions to demonstrate, via a carved salmon trout head, how the various elements of formline are dictated by actually having come from carved designs. This 35-minute Zoom event will be free and open to all and coincides with Native American Heritage Month.

Here is the Zoom

Winter Lecture Series – The Friends will still be hosting its annual Winter Lecture Series. In an effort to keep things physically distanced it will be hosted via Zoom. We will soon be announcing our speakers and their topics as well as the dates very soon.

Ed note: The image is of Robert Davis Hoffman holding one of his works, retrieved from detailed & interesting NPS article about Hoffman, that can be found HERE
