The City and Borough of Sitka announces the Annual Community Wide Spring Clean-up:
205 Jarvis St. Transfer Station will be open the following times during the Spring Clean-up:
8am-4pm every day from Saturday, April 20 through Sunday, April 28. All residential property owners are encouraged to clean up their property and haul all acceptable refuse to the Jarvis St. Transfer Station free of charge during Spring Clean-up. No batteries, paint or metals. Unbroken residential fluorescent bulbs will be accepted free of charge (no commercial). Commercial waste will be charged at the standard rate.
Spring Clean Up yellow garbage bags can be picked up at the Fire Hall.
GPIP Scrap Yard 4655 SMC Rd. will be open 8am-4pm every day from Saturday, April 20 through Sunday, April 28. Junk vehicles, scrap metal, water tanks, refrigerators, dryers, washing machines, stoves, aluminum boats, boat trailers, & properly cleaned fuel tanks accepted free of charge. Vehicles MUST be accompanied with a Title OR a notarized 849 DMV form to be accepted. Vehicles must be towed at owner’s expense.
Household Hazardous Waste Collection at the Wastewater Treatment Plant – 100 Alice Loop Road, Saturday, April 27 8am-4pm AND Sunday, April 28 8am-3pm (Last Weekend Only) What’s eligible: oils, chemicals, solvents, antifreeze, cleaners, poisons, herbicides, acids, automotive & boat batteries, flares and paints. Note: automotive & boat batteries can be taken to Napa at any time during the year.
Residential Yard Waste – Up to 5 cubic yards of residential yard waste per customer will be accepted free of charge at the Granite Creek Waste Area, 401 Granite Creek Rd. (left side) weekends only during Spring Cleanup (April 20 -28) from 8am – 4pm (pick-up truck loads only).
