Are you passionate about being part of the solution to climate change? Do you want to connect and collaborate with like-minded people in Sitka and around Alaska? Do you want to take meaningful action but are unsure where to start?

Check out Citizens Climate Lobby (CCL) at citizensclimatelobby.org. CCL is a non-partisan, non-profit, grassroots volunteer organization with over 500 chapters in the US. One of them is in Sitka! The group’s mission is to create “Political Will for a Livable World”

Our top goal is to get legislation passed that will put a price on carbon emissions. We also support healthy forests, building electrification and efficiency and clean energy.

To learn more, register at community.citizensclimate.org and sign up for the national group’s free virtual conference, Dec. 3rd & 4th. You will hear about policy goals and how you can join in.

The next local Sitka meeting will be Saturday, Dec. 10 on Zoom – starting with the national call at 9am, followed by the local call from 9:50-11am. Visit our Sitka Chapter page for meeting links and information. Our local chapter combines lobbying our Alaska Congressional Delegation for meaningful and specific climate legislation with local hands-on action to increase Sitka’s resilience and independence from fossil fuels. Call Barb at (907) 738-3557 with questions.
