Sitka International Cello Seminar
June 29-July 17
The ninth annual Sitka International Cello Seminar will be held June 29 – July 17, 2022 at the Miner Music Center at Stevenson Hall in Sitka, Alaska.
The Sitka International Cello Seminar brings together top collegiate cellists from around the world for an intensive course with Grammy-award winning cellist Zuill Bailey and an exciting slate of special guest instructors, see list of 2022 Guest Faculty. This unique 3-week immersion experience allows ample time for learning and reflection in the beautiful setting of Sitka, Alaska. Private lessons, master classes, audience engagement, and personal development are all part of the unique approach taken at the Sitka International Cello Seminar. Student enrollment is limited to 10 participants, creating a low student to teacher ratio. Students are accepted by audition and must be 18 or older.
Students and faculty reside, rehearse and perform in the Miner Music Center at Stevenson Hall on the historic Sheldon Jackson College campus in beautiful Sitka, Alaska. Community engagement performances are scheduled in a variety of Sitka locations including retirement homes, libraries, and local restaurants (as Covid-19 protocols allow).
The 2022 Cello Seminar will begin the afternoon of Wednesday, June 29 and end Sunday, July 17 with a final performance – “CELLOBRATION”!
