• OPENING THE BOX: HIGH SCHOOL STEAM ACADEMY
June 2-11 (overnight camp): Our high school camp will focus on traditional ecological knowledge and STEAM career connections. Students can earn high school credit while working alongside Elders and professional researchers to build a deeper connection to the place we call home. Learning strands will include traditional Alaska Native foods, marine science and traditional ecological knowledge, engineering canoes, and mapping the canoe forest with drones. SHI will cover all travel for students living outside of Juneau.

• OPENING THE BOX: MIDDLE SCHOOL STEAM ACADEMY
July 20-30 (overnight camp): In our middle school camp, students will create, explore, make, and problem-solve with place-based, culturally relevant STEAM activities. This year’s camp is based around canoes and navigation. Campers will spend their day with engaging outdoor adventures, carving paddles, interactive STEAM lessons, games, art, and cultural activities. SHI will cover all travel for students living outside of Juneau.
• ATNANÉ ARTS ACADEMY
July 9-18 (overnight camp): Students entering grades 9-12 and graduating seniors will learn Northwest Coast art forms and participate in cultural activities and college and leadership preparation. The camp will be available for dual credits (0.5 high school credits + 3 college credits from UAS). Preference given to students in Juneau, Sitka, and Klawock, but open to students from any community. SHI will cover all travel for students living outside of Juneau.• INDIGENIZING EDUCATION FOR ALASKA’S FUTURE EDUCATORS
June 13-July 1 (with option to extend): This full-time paid internship for future educators provides experience for students entering grade 11 through college sophomores as a youth day-camp counselor with support of a cohort. Exact day content will be dependent on summer camp placement. Interns will receive training prior to beginning work.
