Musicians will be tested for COVID-19 before performing.

Uncommon Music Festival 2022 Events:

  • August 4 @ 7pm, St. Peter’s by the Sea Episcopal Church – Theorbo Recital with Joshua Stauffer – Joshua Stauffer plays 17th-century solo theorbo music in St. Peter’s gorgeous acoustic.
  • August 5 @ 7pm, Sitka Lutheran Church – A Pleasant Thought: Organ Meditations by Price and Sweelinck – Organist Jacob Reed plays music by Florence Price, Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, and others on the historic 1844 Kessler Organ.
  • August 6 @ 2pm, St. Peter’s by the Sea Episcopal ChurchMusic for Sitka, Alaska – A celebration of five years of music for Sitka, Alaska, including favorites from past festivals, new gems, and our 2020 composer competition winner.
  • August 6 @ 7pm, Sitka National Historical ParkNature Music – A musical walk through the woods with the Sitka Sound Science Center – meet us as the National Park Visitor Center!
  • August 7, @ 1pm, St. Peter’s by the Sea Episcopal Church – Women in the Church – Sacred music by women combined with readings and prayers about exceptional women of faith, curated by the Reverend Julie Platson

The Uncommon Music Festival is an annual chamber music festival in Sitka, Alaska that promotes an inclusive, accessible, and community-oriented vision of classical music. Our core ensemble features an SATB quartet, a guitarist / lutenist, and an organist / pianist. Every summer, we offer one week of free musical events, from workshops to concerts to walks in the woods.
