Job Description

We are seeking a Student Support Coordinator to start in fall 2024 with the launch of our two-year liberal arts curriculum. This is a full-time position for a dynamic, team-oriented individual who is excited to shape student life in the first years of Outer Coast’s undergraduate program. The Student Support Coordinator will work with students across the three pillars of: academics, service & labor, and self-governance and help build a thriving undergraduate community.

The Student Support Coordinator position will begin on September 3, 2024 and will end on May 17, 2025 with leave from December 21, 2024 – January 12, 2025. Compensation for this position begins at $35,000. Outer Coast will provide housing and community meals, as well as a stipend to help defray travel costs, as applicable. Read more about this position at https://outercoast.org/careers/. Applications are currently open and will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

In this position, you would:

  • Offer social-emotional support and personal mentorship — in the dorm, classroom, and beyond.
  • Support student outdoor adventures — maybe a kayak trip to the Chaichei Islands!
  • Engage in the Sitka community — such as contributing to the spring herring egg harvest.
  • Help organize service efforts — like a Salmon Lake trail-building day a boat ride away.

We are eager to consider candidates who are familiar with Outer Coast and our model and/or have prior experience working with college-aged students. We especially encourage applications from Alaskan candidates.
