Job Description

Kitchen Staff – Year-round

Sitka Fine Arts Camp (SFAC) is seeking a part-time cook. Kitchen staff is responsible for the completion of all prep cooking, serving, and dishwashing duties. Assist the head chef with food prep and serving, prepare a flexible 2-week rotating menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner including vegan and vegetarian dishes, gluten-free options and a variety of desserts. We cook for resident college students, faculty, long-term tenants and visiting artists.

This is an ideal entry-level culinary job for someone with an interest in food. It would also be an excellent fit for an experienced cook looking for a low-key kitchen environment. Back-of-house catering experience is a plus. There is room to be creative and self-driven, and to learn and grow as a cook.

SFAC kitchen team is 3-4 people, all vaccinated, and kitchen staff wear masks while at work. Kitchen staff serve 15-60 people per meal, and all diners are required to wear masks while being served. Kitchen staff have no on-the-job exposure to the general public.

Custodian – Year-round

Sitka Fine Arts Camp’s (SFAC’s) custodian maintains a clean working environment for all staff and visitors to the Sitka Fine Arts Campus, ensuring all areas are safe.

Duties include: clean bathrooms, clean/mop/buff/vacuum floors, empty trash, maintain outside walk areas, clean & polish fixtures, remove recyclables, clean windows, dust and vacuum furniture, do laundry, housekeeping in rooms (making beds, cleaning, taking out trash, etc.)

Fall Costume Intern – Seasonal

Work directly with theater director to create costume designs for Young Performers Theater’s productions, organize & maintain costume storage and costume shop, involved in all parts of the costuming process from research to sketches/reference images to communication with families of students involved to creation and performance. Duration of Position: September 1 – November 23, 2022.

Duties include: Create costume designs for actors, work with families to complete costumes pieces (from our stock, what families provide and purchase/alter/construct new pieces), attend YPT meetings, schedule fittings, teach concepts in costume design and construction to our tech crew students, maintain theatrical make-up and hair supply stock, with director plan make-up and hair for shows, organize backstage dressing rooms for actors, launder and returning costume pieces to storage.

What is provided: Food stipend of $600/month, Roundtrip airfare to Sitka, Room on campus from September 1 – November 23, Free attendance to all campus events, Access to the Hames Center (on-campus fitness facility)
