You want to learn to draw, and this will get you started. But actually it is a course in perception, and a side effect is learning how to realistically draw anything that is physically present in front you. You just need to know how to look. In this short four-hour course, you will learn some basic looking/drawing skills, some of which they teach in art schools and some of which they don’t. It is very brief and concentrated, intense. You will be surprised at what you can actually do. And… it serves as an introduction to a 40-hour course that will shake up your world if you choose to embark on it. Instruction is one-on-one, every drawing is discussed.
Your instructor, Steve Lester, has taught this and related drawing courses in Alaska, Estonia, Finland, Russia, Latvia and Sweden. Grew up in an art school; teaching drawing and painting was the family business in San Francisco. Studied classical art by visiting museums in Europe. Teaching in general has occupied him most of his life, training sea scouts in knots and other seamanship, sharing computer skills with co-workers when computers first appeared in the workplace. Taught ice sculpture and igloo-building in Fairbanks; sculpture of human head and figure in Russia, Sweden and Japan.
