Baranof Island Housing Authority (BIHA)

Baranof Island Housing Authority is the Tribally Designated Housing Entity for Sitka Tribe of Alaska (STA). STA created BIHA in 1980 by State Statute to address housing needs of Tribal citizens and other residents of Baranof Island, Alaska.

Our purpose is to assist Sitka Tribal citizens and other Sitka residents in collaboration with other agencies achieve self-sufficiency and pride through affordable housing opportunities. We will increase the safe, sanitary housing stock of modest design through construction, acquisition, and rehabilitation of housing and provide the means to obtain affordable housing through home ownership and rental programs.
