Following Housing First principles, we strive to build a community for all Sitkans experiencing homelessness.
Dedicated to assisting Sitka’s unhoused, so that people have the option of a warm and covered place to sleep during the winter months, and now, working towards stable housing option for year-around occupancy. Providing showers and laundry services.
Get Involved: Want to get involved? Let us know! A strong team of volunteers meets weekly and tackles key projects to make this vision a reality for our community and we could always use more hands. Right now, some of our biggest priorities are fundraising, organization, and outreach, with construction slated to begin spring 2023. To find work with this project that best suits you, please fill out this Google Form. We’ll be in touch with you soon!
Hítx’i Sáani (“Little Houses” in Lingít) will sprout from a lot of undeveloped land at the end of Jarvis Street that belongs to the Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority, who have generously agreed to this use of their property.
- It’s also a site where people experiencing homelessness have historically camped out.
- An exploratory report produced by Agnew::Beck Consulting estimates that developing this land into a cabin community will cost just over $1 Million, not including ongoing operating expenses.
