About Us

You can think of us as one part industry incubator, one part arts advocacy organization, and one part musicians’ professional association:

  • We promote Alaskan music in and out of the state

  • We create and share professional development opportunities for artists

  • We connect arts groups already doing important work with each other and with Alaskans

  • We collect public data and facilitate research to learn more about Alaska’s under-studied music ecosystem

  • We build bridges between sectors and across geographic divides, learning from other musician development organizations around the world

  • We act as an information and resource hub for musicians and projects

We are small, but we are working hard to serve the brilliant artists and the communities they have been enriching for generations. We hope you’ll get in touch. ~ AKIMI

AKIMI is coordinated by a small team of music makers excited about a future that includes Alaska as an international hub of northern music, arts, and culture. We elevate Alaskan music and support Alaska musicians.
